Saint Savior

After his civil service to the German nation and bavarian province Michael decides, to take residence far away (aria In fernem Land).

In Würzburg he wants to get noble knowledge and apply himself to theological studies for some years (aria Dies Bildnis ist bezaubernd schön). When he there awakes among music students, he remembers his passion of singing, that was believed to be lapsed (aria Nessun dorma). So he takes singing lessons from a master of his genre who celebrated numerous success. Marked by old failure Michael is controlled by impatience. Obsessively he exercises almost every day. He wants to sing Weber and Wagner, but he stands in front of Schumann. Just after a short time he expects the desired success (aria Es muss gelingen). When his expectation remains unfulfilled and when he is almost crushed by a G, he kicked the sheet music case with his left feet over two meters over the floor. Close to the total collapse he imagines his end of life in unsoundness of mind far away from music (recitative and aria Nein, länger trag' ich nicht die Qualen). With his blunt tuning fork he cannot end his life. Finally he turns away from his voice. At his studies he receives a stimulus that nearly drives him insane and to continue his exercises immediately. As if by magic his voice releases the G, sounds and shines (final Heil sei dem Tag, heil sei der Stunde). Some more similar experiences show his teacher as the expected saviour who expertly teaches him the art of classical singing with considerable success (aria Morgenlich leuchtend).

4th Act

The entire world is in full mess. Dark shadows and grim sounds cover the world with fear and fright. The young hero fears for his life (recitative and aria Gott, welch Dunkel hier) and seeks for giving and finding peace. His voice gives him last hold. In the underground vaults of an house he tries to save his voice from lapse.
